The Parish Church of St Hilda, Abbess of Hartlepool

St Hilda’s welcomes visitors on Saturdays from 2 to 4 pm throughout the year and also on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2 to 4 pm from Easter to September. Refreshments are available.

As well as splendid architecture and a warm welcome, the church offers a Visitor Centre with modern display panels (some interactive) which trace the history of the Church and the Headland through the ages.

Groups are welcome to contact us to arrange for a visit at any convenient time; guided tours and more substantial refreshments are available on request.

The other main visitor attraction on the Headland is the Heugh Battery, which is only a few minutes’ walk away and can easily be visited on the same day.

Also not far away are Hartlepool Marina, HMS Trincomalee, Hartlepool Maritime Experience and the Museum of Hartlepool.

Make the most of your visit to Hartlepool!
